The best time is from 7 pm to 9 pm, when the night market has just opened and the food is freshest. The whole roasted lamb show also starts at 7 pm sharp. Summer visits are even better; while daytime temperatures are high, the evenings are cool and pleasant.

Entry to the night market is free. A per person budget of 30-60 yuan will leave you very full. Grilled lamb skewers are 5 yuan each, much cheaper than at restaurants. It is recommended to gather a few people and order a whole roasted lamb together for better value per person.

Datos rápidos: Cada noche atrae a más de 3000 comensales en busca de comida. Este mercado nocturno cuenta con más de 80 puestos. Aquí se pueden encontrar especialidades de Xinjiang como el cordero asado entero y los zongzi de yogur. La mayoría de los puestos permanece abierto hasta las dos de la madrugada.
Destacados: Cada día, a las siete de la tarde, un señor uigur monta en el centro del mercado un enorme horno de két importa de dos metros de diámetro para asar un cordero entero en vivo. El aroma de las especias mezclado con la grasa tostada del cordero se extiende hasta media calle. La multitud que observa aplaude y vitorea al unísono.

- To avoid queues, head to the stalls at the far end. The locals' favorite long-established shops are there, with equally good food but half the crowd.
- When ordering yogurt with sticky rice, ask the vendor to add an extra spoonful of homemade jam. The sweet and sour flavor will be taken up a notch, and there is no extra charge.
- Bringing wet wipes is important. Your fingers will get greasy from eating hand-grabbed lamb and grilled skewers, and there are not many faucets on site.
- Do not rush to order the first baked bun you see at the entrance. Walk about 200 meters further in to find Abula Brothers, whose baked buns have thinner skins and more filling.
