Bring a light rain jacket and wear comfortable walking shoes, the weather can shift from sun to drizzle within minutes.
Head straight to the Tropicario greenhouse first thing, you'll beat the crowds and catch the orchids at their freshest.
Skip the crowded weekend afternoons and instead aim for a Tuesday or Wednesday visit for nearly empty pathways.
The Japanese garden near the back offers the best photo light between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. when the sun filters through the bamboo.
