I stayed four nights and found plenty to explore without rushing. The historic architecture here is really charming and gives you that old Cuban feel.
If you want real Cuban coffee, skip cafes near the plaza. Walk a few blocks east for a tiny spot locals love, it’s cheap and strong.
The Malecón at sunset is beautiful but can get crowded with tourists. Not a fan of how overrun some spots feel during peak hours.
Beware of limited ATM access. Bring enough cash to avoid ATM fees and carry small bills for taxis and markets.
Local tip: The ferry to Jagua Castle is cheaper if you buy tickets at the port early morning. Avoid tourist booths charging extra.
