Had higher hopes for the cultural vibe, many places felt touristy, but the street food saved the experience for me.
Weather was unpredictable. One day blazing sun, next day heavy rain. Pack accordingly if you visit during transition months.
Nice balance of old and new city vibes. Traffic can be a pain though, so plan your travel time carefully.
Buy local sim card with data at the airport, it’s way cheaper and makes navigation super easy here.
Yogyakarta's food scene is amazing, lots of local flavors. Weather was hot but manageable with frequent breaks. Would stay 4-5 days to explore well.
