Datos rápidos: Seis aldeas de madera sobre pilotes sobreviven extendiéndose sobre el agua a lo largo de Pengkalan Weld, y cada comunidad remonta sus raíces a un clan chino diferente de la década de 1800. Aproximadamente 5.000 personas aún llaman hogar a estos embarcaderos, convirtiéndolos en uno de los últimos kampungs costeros habitados de Penang.
Destacados: Solo el embarcadero Chew alberga a más de 100 familias apiñadas en una pasarela de madera estrecha que apenas da paso a dos motocicletas.
