Datos rápidos: Situada en un promontorio rocoso con vistas al Golfo de Omán, esta fortaleza fue construida originalmente por los portugueses en la década de 1580 para proteger el puerto de Mascate. Sus torres gemelas y su dramática posición en el acantilado albergaban cañones que podían disparar disparos de advertencia a través de toda la bahía.
Destacados: A diferencia de la mayoría de los fuertes que parecen museos polvorientos, este todavía tiene un puente levadizo funcional y cañones portugueses originales apuntando al mar. Sube las estrechas escaleras hasta la azotea al atardecer y observa cómo las luces de la ciudad se encienden en el puerto de abajo.
