Datos rápidos: Situado en un promontorio rocoso con vistas al puerto, este fuerte ha custodiado el puerto de Mascate desde al menos el siglo XVI. Su gemelo, el fuerte Al Jalali, se encuentra justo al otro lado de la bahía, y juntos encadenaban la entrada del puerto para controlar el acceso.
Destacados: Mira con atención la base de los muros del fuerte y verás las balas de cañón portuguesas originales aún incrustadas en la piedra de los asedios de hace siglos. El interior del fuerte conserva una cisterna de agua portuguesa en funcionamiento que aún recoge el agua de lluvia, tal como lo hacía cuando fue construida por los ingenieros coloniales en la década de 1580.
