Best in the morning around 9:00, when the sun shines directly on the gate facade and creates perfect light for photographs. You will also avoid the crowds of tourists who pour in here in the afternoon.

Viewing the gate from the outside is free. If you want to see the interior and the exhibition about the history of the fortifications, admission costs 10 lei for adults; we recommend a combined ticket with the nearby Black Church for 25 lei.

Datos rápidos: La Puerta Schei formaba parte originalmente de las fortificaciones medievales de Brașov y servía como única entrada a la ciudad desde el sur. Aún conserva su aspecto barroco original de 1827, aunque sus cimientos se remontan al siglo XV.

Destacados: En la parte superior de la puerta, observa el escudo de piedra con la inscripción "Salva Guarda". Era una entrada privilegiada por la que solo los sajones de Transilvania podían pasar sin pagar impuestos. Cuando los comerciantes pasaban con carros cargados de sal, debían pagar un peaje que se medía según el ancho de las ruedas.

Stop at the information board on the left side of the gate. The original drawbridge system, which no longer exists, is drawn on it.
Photograph the gate from the lower part of the street, and you will capture the entire arch together with the surrounding houses without any distracting elements.
Notice the small stone balls walled into the sides of the gate; they served as protection against cannonballs.
Avoid visiting at noon, when cars drive through here and you are not able to photograph the gate in peace.
