Bratislava is a generally safe, walkable capital where most visits go smoothly. The main risks for tourists are overpriced airport taxis, pickpocketing in crowded areas and train/bus stations, and poor exchange rates at tourist-area booths. Use official taxis, the city transit app, and pay in euros by card to avoid the usual traps.

Always choose to be charged in euros and decline dynamic currency conversion when prompted at an ATM or card terminal. Prefer ATMs attached to major bank branches. Independent street ATMs, especially near the old town, often charge high fees, so check the fee screen before withdrawing.
