Datos rápidos: Este santuario, que abarca 32,000 hectáreas, alberga a más de 500 elefantes que deambulan libremente. Aquí se encuentran más de 200 especies de aves, entre ellas el pavo real de Sri Lanka y el águila.
Destacados: Es uno de los pocos lugares donde puedes ver elefantes de cerca sin temor a tigres o leopardos. Por la mañana, cuando la niebla se disipa, las manadas de elefantes aparecen bañándose en la orilla del río, un espectáculo completamente inolvidable.

- Wear khaki or green colored clothes and avoid bright colors so as not to distract the animals.
- Book an open-top jeep for the safari; photography is difficult in a closed jeep.
- Animals are rarely seen between 12 pm and 3 pm, so choose morning or evening time.
- Be sure to carry binoculars and a water bottle with you; water is not available inside the park.
