Meilleur moment pour visiter

Best in summer and autumn (June to October), when the reeds are lush and water birds are active. You can also enjoy water activities. If you want to see the great migration of migratory birds, visit in spring or autumn.

Conseils budget

The main entrance ticket is about 45 yuan. The two main attractions, Dahekou and Lianhai Lake, are ticketed separately. It is recommended to visit Dahekou in the morning and take a boat through the reed marshes at Lianhai Lake in the afternoon. Buying a combined ticket is more cost-effective.

À propos

Faits rapides: Bosten Lake is China's largest inland freshwater lake, covering an area of 1,228 square kilometers. Each year, over 200 species of migratory birds inhabit the area, including the rare relict gull and black stork.

Points forts: In winter, the lake surface freezes to a thickness of one meter. Locals chisel holes in the ice to fish, and you can also see the unusual sight of camels pulling sledges across the frozen lake. In summer, a kilometer-long boardwalk is hidden within the reed marshes on the west bank. Walking on it, you see crystal-clear lake water beneath your feet, with reeds towering overhead, as if moving through a green maze.

Conseils d'initiés

  • The best photo spot is at the Dahekou viewing platform. The light is softest at 4-5 PM, with the sparkling lake surface set against the distant Tianshan snow peaks.
  • Be sure to take a boat deep into the reed marshes. On the islet in the middle of the lake, you can feed flocks of seagulls. The scenery here is completely different from what you see on the shore.
  • There are many mosquitoes in summer, so bring mosquito repellent and wear long pants and long sleeves. If you come in winter for ice fishing, wear a thick down jacket and slip-resistant shoes.
  • The restaurants inside the scenic area are overpriced and the food is only so-so. It is recommended to bring your own food or have breakfast in downtown Korla before setting out.
