About
त्वरित तथ्य: Low clouds often pour over the ridge at sunrise, turning switchback hairpins into a drifting river of mist. Fog can roll in within minutes, cutting visibility to a few dozen meters and giving hikers and riders a thrilling sense of being aloft in the clouds.
मुख्य आकर्षण: A rocky overlook near the summit sits around 1,900 meters above sea level, where on clear mornings you can watch a sea of clouds settle hundreds of meters below while terraced fields and tiny houses peek through. Local guides and riders often leave colorful ribbons or small prayer offerings at two favored photo spots, and the snap of a motorbike engine against the stone switchbacks becomes part of the soundtrack to the view.
Insider tips
- Wear layered clothing and a windproof jacket, temperatures can drop suddenly above 1,900 m.
- Arrive before 7:30 AM to catch the sea of clouds and avoid the mid-morning tour vans.
- Use the Cổng Trời turnout for wide sweeping mountain shots and bring a polarizing filter to cut glare.
- Avoid stopping on tight switchbacks; park only in designated lay-bys for safety and to keep traffic moving.

4.3Arrived at 6:30am and had almost no crowd. Sunrise over the pass was spectacular, small parking fee and chilly wind but totally worth the early start.
Arrived late afternoon and fog ruined the view. No entrance fee but felt like a wasted trip, crowds were light but visibility was near zero so not worth the travel.
Got there around 11am and it was packed with tour buses; motorbike ride from Sapa cost about 150k VND. Winding road views were great but stalls felt overpriced.
Sunset at about 5pm, maybe 15 people at the viewpoint so it felt private. No ticket cost, tipped the driver 200k and the golden light made the drive fully worth it.
