Brze činjenice: Founded to protect a unique complex of lakes, forests and a medieval castle on an island. It covers 8,200 hectares and hosts over 200 species of birds, while its lakes cover almost 22% of the total area.
Istaknuto: Trakai Castle, built on a small island in the middle of Lake Galve, is the only island castle in all of Eastern Europe. Imagine a stone fortress with bright red Gothic details emerging from the blue-green waters, especially magical when the sunset light paints it golden.

- Rent a kayak or rowboat to see the castle from the lake - the view from the water is unmatched.
- Visit the Karaite kiosk in the center of Trakai for authentic kibinai (minced meat in dough) before you leave.
- The inside of the castle has long queues at noon - arrive right after opening or after 4:00 PM for peace and quiet.
- Wear shoes with good grip if you plan to climb the towers - the stairs are narrow and made of wrought wood.
