Fakta cepat: Bertengger di atas singkapan berbatu yang menghadap Teluk Oman, benteng ini awalnya dibangun oleh Portugis pada tahun 1580-an untuk melindungi pelabuhan Muscat. Menara pengawas kembarnya dan posisi tebing yang dramatis dulunya menampung meriam yang bisa menembakkan tembakan peringatan ke seluruh teluk.
Sorotan: Tidak seperti kebanyakan benteng yang terasa seperti museum berdebu, benteng ini masih memiliki jembatan angkat yang berfungsi dan meriam Portugis asli yang diarahkan ke laut. Naiki tangga sempit ke atap saat matahari terbenam dan saksikan lampu kota menyala di pelabuhan di bawahnya.
