Fatti rapidi: L'acqua ha una salinità quasi dieci volte superiore a quella del mare, eppure brulica di vita sui fondali poco profondi. Qui, a 2.300 metri di altitudine, in mezzo al terzo deserto di sale più grande del mondo, si radunano fino a 40.000 fenicotteri di tre specie quando la stagione è al meglio.
Punti salienti: Un unico stormo rosa si tinge di rosa mangiando: il colore dei fenicotteri viene dai piccoli gamberetti Artemia salina che brulicano nella salamoia, e più prede ci sono, più vivido è il piumaggio. Cammina sulla crosta quando il vento si calma e senti ogni passo scricchiolare come vetro rotto mentre lagune specchiate raddoppiano le montagne.

- Aim for weekdays before eight o'clock, then you'll have almost the whole place to yourself.
