クイックファクト: 川の上40メートルの岩山に位置するこの中世の要塞は、かつてプロヴディフへの道を守っていた。その巨大な城壁と現存する9つの塔は13世紀に建てられたもので、ブルガリアの皇帝たちの要塞として機能していた。
見どころ: 南東の壁をよく見ると、石積みに騎馬の人物のレリーフが一つ彫られており、これは珍しい中世のシンボルである。夕暮れ時に最も高い塔に登ると、太陽が中庭全体を琥珀色の光で満たし、プロヴディフの谷全体が眼下に広がる。
