クイックファクト: この水は海のほぼ10倍の塩分濃度を保ちながら、浅い底の表面には生物が溢れている。標高2,300メートル、世界で3番目に大きい塩原の真ん中に位置するここには、シーズンが最盛期を迎えると3種のフラミンゴが最大で約40,000羽集まる。
見どころ: 一羽のピンク色の群れがピンク色に染まる。フラミンゴの色は塩水に群生する小さなエビ、アルテミア・サリナに由来し、獲物が多ければ多いほど、その羽衣はより鮮やかになる。風が収まったら地殻の上を歩き出そう。一歩ごとに砕けたガラスのようなパチパチという音が聞こえ、鏡のように平らなラグーンが山々を二重に映し出す。
