クイックファクト: 毎年200万人以上がこのサンゴ石の門を通り抜け、活気あふれるヘトセマニ地区とコロニアルな旧市街を結んでいる。上部の時計機構は20世紀初頭にスイスから輸入されたもので、今でも週に2回の手巻きで時を刻み続けている。
見どころ: アーチの基部をよく見ると、何世紀も前に街に入るすべての人を祝福するために据えられた聖母マリアの小さな像が龕に納められているのが見える。広場側では、隣接する建物の色あせたコロニアル時代のフレスコ画が、午後の日差しが彫刻された石のファサードを横切るにつれて色を変える。
