Late afternoon after 4:00 PM, when the sun bathes the surface in golden light and most tourists have already left. May to September offers pleasant temperatures for swimming, while October to November brings beautiful colors of the surrounding forest.

Entrance to the lake is completely free, parking at the nearby lot costs a few euros per day. If you want to save money, park in the town of Füssen and walk about 30 minutes along a nice forest path.

クイックファクト: 濃い緑色の水は夏には神秘的な外観を与え、周辺で最も水温の高い湖の一つに数えられる。一方冬には、隣接する湖ほど簡単には凍らず、氷点下の気温でも開いた水面がよく見られる。

見どころ: 水面下には、かつて近くのノイシュヴァンシュタイン城に石材を供給していた深さ30メートルの水没した採石場が隠れている。水は非常に透明で、湖底には100年以上前に労働者たちが使っていた古い採石の跡や線路の残骸がはっきりと見える。
