クイックファクト: この大聖堂は、1773年の2度の大地震が元のバロック様式のファサードと内陣を破壊した後、瓦礫の中から再建されました。現在残っているのは部分的に修復された建物で、屋根のない廃墟が現役の教区教会の隣にあり、訪問者は崩れかけたアーチや数世紀にわたる石造りの遺構の間を歩くことができます。

見どころ: 朽ちかけたファサードには元の彫刻が施された石造りが今も残っており、かつて主祭壇があった場所には地震で砕けた柱が立っています。よく見ると、植民地時代のフレスコ画の断片が壁の一部にまだ張り付いており、その色褪せた顔料はかつてあらゆる表面を覆っていた装飾の亡霊のようです。
