クイックファクト: ヨークルスアゥルロゥン氷河湖は家ほどの大きさの氷山が鏡のような水面をゆっくりと漂い、溶けるたびにカチカチと音を立てます。アザラシが岸近くに頻繁に浮かび、映画やCMのロケ地にもよく使われる劇的な風景です。
見どころ: 1930年代以降の安定した氷河の後退により湖は約18平方キロに広がり、巨大小屋ほどの氷山が水面に崩れ落ちることが可能になりました。夕日は氷をオレンジ色に染め、雷のような崩壊音が数キロ先まで響くため、別世界のようなサウンドトラックを作り出します。
