クイックファクト: ラジャスタンから取り寄せた純白の大理石からすべてを削り出したこの寺院は、夜には淡い照明の下で幻想的に輝く。200人以上の熟練職人が約10年をかけて完成させたこの建築の驚異は、ボパールの二つの有名な湖を見下ろす丘の頂上に建っている。

見どころ: 中に足を踏み入れて上を見上げると、天井全体がヒンドゥー教の聖典の物語を語りかける。複雑な大理石の透かし細工が太陽の光を濾過し、移り変わる模様を描き出す。高さ30フィートの一枚岩の大理石の板が聖所の屋根を形成しており、その目的だけのために特別に建設された道路を使って丘の上まで運ばれた。
