概要

クイックファクト: 広大な中庭と柱の並ぶホールで、一度に8万人以上が祈りを捧げることができる。建設は1800年代後半、女性統治者ナワーブ・シャー・ジャハーン・ベーグムの下で始まり、数十年にわたって段階的に続けられた。

見どころ: 正面入り口をくぐると、ピンク色のファサードが出迎えてくれる。その色合いは太陽の光で変化し、夕暮れ時にはサンゴのように輝く。高さ66メートルの2本のミナレットが巨大な池を挟み、風のない日にはモスク全体が鏡のように水面に映り込む。

Bring a wide-angle lens or phone with a panorama mode to capture the scale of the courtyard and the full reflection in the pool.
Visit on a Friday around noon to hear the call to prayer echo through the halls, but arrive early as it gets crowded.
Cover your head and remove shoes before entering the prayer hall, scarves are available at the entrance if you forget.
The upstairs galleries offer a quieter viewpoint overlooking the main courtyard and are often overlooked by visitors.
