概要
クイックファクト: 潮の干満で一日に二回、鳥居が高波の時は浮かんでいるかのように見え、干潮時には歩いて渡れる水の舞台へと変わります。ユネスコの世界遺産で、杉の杭の上に朱塗りの楼閣が建ち、祭礼の舟行列や神社の音楽の響きを今も残しています。
見どころ: 満潮時には高さ約16メートルの主鳥居が海湾の上に額縁絵のように浮かび、夕日に照らされてオレンジ色に輝きます。地元の人々は平安時代の舟音楽祭「管弦祭」を今も祝っており、漆塗りの舟が提灯の灯りの下で雅楽奏者を乗せて行きます。
