El Farito Lighthouse

概要

クイックファクト: 19世紀に建てられたこの小さな灯台はイスラ・ムヘーレスの最南端に位置し、カリブ海とメキシコ湾が出会う地点を示している。1905年以来、オリジナルのレンズは今も15海里先まで光を届け、サンゴ礁の多い海域を航行する船を導いている。

見どころ: 夜明けには、灯台の長い影が岩だらけのプンタ・スールの崖に伸び、その下ではウミガメが息継ぎのために水面に浮かんでくる。地元の人々によると、最初の灯台守が1910年に周囲のヤシの木を植え、それぞれの木が灯台の窓を通して朝の光を正確に捉えられるように間隔を計算したという。
