概要
クイックファクト: 計画された86メートルに対し、赤砂岩で実際に積み上がったのは約44メートルだけだった。1199年に注文したスルタンが死去した日に、工事は永久に止まった。この塔が正面を飾る礼拝堂は2万人の礼拝者を収容できるはずだったが、今も約200本の柱が1755年の地震で倒れた場所に横たわっている。
見どころ: 彫刻された柱頭に指を這わせると、800回以上のモロッコの夏を経てもなお鋭い馬蹄アーチと幾何学模様をなぞることができる。約200本の柱の切り株が地震で投げ出されたまさにその場所に横たわり、展望広場全体が災害の真っ最中に凍りついた写真のように見える。
