Honestly a bit underwhelming. City feels kinda rough around the edges and not much to do after 9pm. Glad I came for a quick stopover but wouldn't come back specifically.
Use the bus system instead of taxis. 2,400 guaranies per ride anywhere in the city. Buses come every 5 mins on the main routes. Just watch your phone and bags, keep them zipped.
The heat is no joke. November was brutal. But the riverside at sunset made up for it. Food scene is underrated, just dont stick to the fancy hotel restaurants.
Asuncion surprised me. Way more laid back than I expected. Lunched at a market spot for like 3 bucks and it was incredible. A couple days here felt right, you don't need a full week.
Skip the overpriced tourist spots near Palacio de Lopez. Walk 10 mins to Mercado 4 for real terere, fresh produce, and empanadas for a fraction of the cost. Bring small bills though.
