Zakopane is a very popular mountain resort and generally safe, with low violent crime, but the crowds at Krupówki and the bus station attract the usual tourist-targeting scams: overpriced unlicensed taxis, exchange booths with poor rates, and restaurant bills with hidden charges. The main practical worries are paying fair taxi rates and watching belongings in busy areas during peak season.

1. Unlicensed drivers at airport
手口: Drivers approach arrivals outside the terminal offering a ride to Zakopane at inflated flat rates, often without a meter or official markings.
回避方法: Use the official taxi rank or book through Uber, Bolt or iTaxi. Agree on a price before starting if meter is absent.
2. Poor-rate exchange booths
手口: Exchange booths near Krupówki and the main bus station advertise attractive rates but apply large commissions or hidden spreads.
回避方法: Compare rates, ask about commission first, or withdraw PLN from a bank ATM. Decline dynamic currency conversion.
3. Hidden cover or service charges
手口: Some restaurants add bread, cover or service charges to bills without mentioning them beforehand.
回避方法: Check the menu for prices and any service note. Review the bill line by line before paying.
4. Crowd distraction and pickpocketing
手口: In packed seasonal crowds, groups use distractions like bumping or asking questions while an accomplice lifts wallets or phones.
回避方法: Keep bags zipped and in front, and keep phones in inner pockets in crowds.
5. Misleading rental ads
手口: Some short-term rentals post photos of a different property or location, then guests arrive to a worse room far from the advertised spot.
回避方法: Book through platforms with verified reviews and maps, and confirm exact address before paying.
