クイックファクト: スピシュスカー・ソボタのこのルーテル教会の中には、15世紀から16世紀のゴシック様式の祭壇が3基現存しており、スロバキアで最も保存状態の良い中世の祭壇群のひとつとなっています。教会はかつて処刑が行われていた広場に面しており、近くには今もさらし台が立っています。
見どころ: 主要なゴシック様式の祭壇画は高さ12メートルに達し、シナノキ材から彫られた126体の精巧な人物像を備えており、すべて1516年のオリジナルです。金箔の細部は500年経った今も輝きを放っています。なぜなら、この教会は略奪されたことも、塗り直されたこともなかったからです。
