クイックファクト: The floor inside is paved with heavy sandstone slabs brought all the way from the Netherlands as ballast in 18th century ships. Originally a Portuguese convent, the structure was transformed into a Dutch Reformed church in 1755 and still holds Sunday services in both Sinhala and Tamil.

One grave marker remembers the Dutch governor's wife who died at sea, her body buried right here beneath the pews where families now sing hymns every Sunday.
