クイックファクト: ここでは4体の仏像が花崗岩の壁に直接彫り込まれている。最も印象的なのは長さ14メートルの涅槃仏で、涅槃への移行を表している。
見どころ: 高さ4.6メートルの坐像は腕を胸の前で交差させており、スリランカの他のどの仏像にも見られない独特の gestures である。現代の巡礼者たちも今なお立像の前で静かに立ち止まり、千年にわたる敬虔な gestures で磨かれた岩に触れる。

- Bring shoes that are easy to remove: you will have to walk barefoot on the sacred area around the statues, and the stone becomes scorching hot by midday.
- The best spot to photograph the reclining Buddha is from the southeast corner of the platform, with the early morning light behind you.
- Do not limit yourself to a frontal view: walk around the rock to notice the veins in the granite that the medieval monks skillfully avoided during carving.
- Arrive before 9:00 to have the site all to yourself: after 10:00 the organized bus groups arrive.
