概要

クイックファクト: 1220年のジンギス・カンによるブハラ破壊を生き延びた高さ45.6メートルのカリャン・ミナレットは、征服者がその美しさに感嘆し、破壊を免れさせたと言われています。この複合施設全体で1万2000人以上の礼拝者を同時に収容でき、異なる王朝にわたって約200年に及ぶ継続的な建設を経て完成しました。

見どころ: そびえ立つミナレットの基部をよく見ると、それぞれ異なる幾何学模様を持つ14の明確なレンガの帯がらせん状に上昇しているのがわかります。地元の伝説によれば、ジンギス・カンは燃え盛る街の煙の中からこの光景が突き抜けて見えたことに衝撃を受け、三度お辞儀をした後、軍隊にこれを残すよう命じたと言われています。
