Apie
Greiti faktai: Each of its 29 stations feels like a different museum, with Kosmonavtlar station celebrating space exploration through glowing blue mosaics of cosmonauts. The system was the first in Central Asia and carries over 200,000 passengers daily through corridors lined with crystal chandeliers and carved marble.
Akcentai: Photography was strictly forbidden for over 40 years until 2018, because officials considered the metro a military-secret facility. Today you can freely photograph the 12-meter-long crystal chandeliers in Mustaqillik Maydoni station and the gold-leafed ceilings of Alisher Navoi station.
Vidiniai patarimai
- Start at Kosmonavtlar station for the most spectacular Soviet-era space mosaics, then ride to Alisher Navoi for the gold-leaf ceilings.
- Ride the entire circular line first to get oriented, it takes about 40 minutes and passes 9 of the most decorated stations.
- Carry small bills or coins, ticket booths rarely have change for large notes during busy hours.
- Visit Mustaqillik Maydoni (Independence Square) station last, its two massive crystal chandeliers are best enjoyed without a rush.
