Korte feiten: Als zetel van het grootstedelijk aartsbisdom Shkodër heeft deze kathedraal de dramatische katholieke geschiedenis van de stad meegemaakt, waaronder de ombouw tot sporthal tijdens het communistische tijdperk. Het opvallende Danubische neogotische ontwerp werd gerestaureerd na de val van het communisme en staat nu centraal in het religieuze leven van Shkodër.
Hoogtepunten: Tijdens de communistische periode werd de kathedraal ontdaan van haar religieuze bestemming en omgebouwd tot basketbalhal, maar de gelovigen bewaarden haar herinnering zo levendig dat haar herinwijding duizenden mensen trok.
