Korte feiten: Dit monument is opgericht ter nagedachtenis aan de slachtoffers van het bloedbad dat plaatsvond in 1971 tijdens de Bengaalse Onafhankelijkheidsoorlog. Op de plek van de voormalige school bevindt zich nu een museum met foto's en persoonlijke bezittingen van de overledenen.
Hoogtepunten: De muren in het monument zijn bedekt met handafdrukken van overlevenden en families van slachtoffers, elke uniek en persoonlijk. 's Nachts verlichten 71 lampen het pad naar het monument, symbool voor het jaar 1971 en creëren ze een bijna spookachtige sfeer van stilte en herinnering.
