Hoogtepunten: The cathedral walls are made of thousands of wooden shingles, and the damp air forces them to be repainted, so the church changes color more often than many others. From the stairs at the edge of the square the whole palafito quarter opens up, a view that turns into something entirely different in just a few hours at low tide.

- Head to the square in the morning, before cruise ship visitors arrive, and it will be almost empty.
- Take photos of the stilt houses from the steps at the edge of the square; the best angle is at their lower part.
- Don't forget a waterproof jacket, rain can catch you even in midsummer.
- Try the kurales and mussel dishes at the market stalls, where they are the freshest and cheapest.
