Korte feiten: Een bezoeker op het uitkijkplatform ziet tegelijk twaalf lanen samenvloeien, waardoor panorama’s en zonsondergangen bijzonder dramatisch worden vastgelegd. Onder de boog brandt een eeuwig vuur bij het graf van een onbekende soldaat, een ingetogen ceremonie die dagelijks bewoners en toeristen stil doet worden.
Hoogtepunten: Op de top van de 50 meter hoge boog zie je 12 lanen als een gigantische ster uitwaaieren, en op heldere avonden flikkeren de stadslichten tussen de bomen alsof je boven een levend panoramisch schilderij hangt. Onder de boog ligt sinds de Eerste Wereldoorlog een graf met een eeuwige vlam die elke avond om 18:30 door oud-strijders en verenigingen wordt hernieuwd, de rook en zachte stemmen zorgen steevast voor kippenvel.

- Expect about 280 narrow steps to the viewing platform, wear sturdy shoes and take breaks if needed.
