Korte feiten: Loop over de brede laan en je voelt de stad op gang komen, met ritselende platanen, luxewinkels en cafés vol geur van koffie en vers gebak. Meer dan honderd winkels en talloze cafés trekken jaarlijks miljoenen bezoekers, terwijl parades en vuurwerk de laan vaak in een feestpodium veranderen.
Hoogtepunten: De laan is ongeveer 1,9 kilometer lang en 70 meter breed, en sinds 1975 wordt de slotrit van de Tour de France hier beslist, waarbij renners in een bonte finale over glanzend asfalt onder flitsende camera's sprinten. Op 14 juli verandert dezelfde laan in een militaire catwalk: tanks en soldaten marcheren onder platanen, de Patrouille de France maakt een onvergetelijke flypast en de geur van warme crêpes en gebrande kastanjes hangt in de lucht.

- Wear comfortable shoes, the avenue stretches about 2 kilometers end to end.
- For the classic shot, photograph the Arc de Triomphe from mid-avenue or climb the Arc for a centered view.
- Avoid peak lunchtime on weekends, head out early or after 7pm for fewer crowds and better light.
- Keep belongings secure near metro exits and big stores, pickpockets target busy stretches.
