Korte feiten: De vlam die hier brandt, zou al meer dan 1500 jaar niet zijn gedoofd en is een van de oudste continu brandende vuren ter wereld. Het heilige vuur dat in de tempel wordt bewaard, is uit negen verschillende bronnen verzameld voordat het begin 20e eeuw hierheen werd gebracht.
Hoogtepunten: In het midden van de gevel staat een enorm, in steen gehouwen Faravahar-symbool dat de bezoekers gadeslaat, een van de oudste symbolen van het zoroastrische geloof. Het licht dat door het glas-in-loodraam van de tempel naar binnen valt, danst zo door de binnenruimte dat de oude vlam een bijna bovennatuurlijke gloed krijgt.

- The sacred fire is kept behind glass; photography is forbidden inside the inner chamber, but you are free to take pictures in the entrance hall and the courtyard.
- Do not focus only on the fire: the images of Zoroastrian shrines and prophets hanging on the walls reveal a lot about the belief system.
- Put on a cap or scarf at the entrance; women must cover their hair, and respectful attire is also expected for men.
- It is worth spending a quiet moment in the shade of the ancient cypress trees in the temple garden before leaving.
