Korte feiten: Op een oppervlakte van slechts een paar hectare leven hier ongeveer 80 soorten Malagassische dieren, van koningsblauwe kameleons tot fossa's en de grootste lemur, de indri. Het botanische deel van het park herbergt een herbarium met ongeveer 80.000 plantenvoorbeelden die de eilandflora documenteren, waarvan zeventig procent nergens anders ter wereld voorkomt.
Hoogtepunten: De aye-aye, een nachtelijke lemur met een lange spinachtige vinger, zoekt hier voor de ogen van de bezoekers wormen door op de bast te tikken, terwijl mensen hem thuis in het oerwoud als een slecht voorteken beschouwen. Tegen de avond klinkt de onmiskenbare zang van de indri, waarvan de echo zich over het stilwordende park verspreidt en in de ziel de sfeer van verre regenwouden oproept.
