De gebedshal waar het voor staat zou plaats hebben geboden aan 20.000 gelovigen, en ruwweg 200 zuilen liggen nog altijd waar de aardbeving van 1755 ze neerwierp.
Hoogtepunten: Strijk met je vingers over de gebeeldhouwde kapitelen en je volgt hoefijzerbogen en geometrische patronen die na meer dan 800 Marokkaanse zomers nog steeds scherp zijn. Zo'n 200 zuilstompen liggen precies waar de aardbeving ze neerslingerde, waardoor de hele esplanade oogt als een foto die halverwege de ramp bevroren is.
