Korte feiten: Vijf lagen uitgesneden godheden klimmen langs een 22 meter hoge gopuram die de skyline van de buurt domineert. Op Thaipusam vertrekken duizenden aanhangers vanaf juist dit terrein op een loodzware tocht, velen met zware kavadi's die met haken en spiesen zijn vastgemaakt.
Hoogtepunten: In het hart van het heiligdom zit het hoofdbeeld op een stenen Garuda, de adelaar die dient als Vishnu's rijdier, met de vleugels bevroren midden in een zwaai boven de boterlampen. Tijdens festivals kleden priesters het beeld in verse jasmijnkransen die zo dik zijn dat ze enkele kilo's wegen, en de hele zaal ruikt naar kamfer en frangipani.

- Circulate clockwise and pause at the gopuram's lower carvings, where the detail is sharpest at eye level.
