Korte feiten: Drie vuurtorenwachters en hun gezinnen woonden ooit het hele jaar door op dit kleine eiland, in totale afzondering weerbaar tegen de brute stormen van de Noordzee. De 46 meter hoge gietijzeren toren, felrood geverfd met een witte streep, flitst zijn baken elke 10 seconden 32 kilometer de zee op.
Hoogtepunten: Een smalle wenteltrap van 177 treden kronkelt omhoog door de holle ijzeren kern, waarbij elke overloop een ander uitzicht biedt op de archipel die kleiner wordt beneden. Op heldere herfstavonden schildert de zonsondergang de hele toren in goudkleurig licht terwijl zeehonden in het omringende water dobberen.

- Visit on a weekday to avoid weekend crowds on the small ferry.
- Pack a picnic, there is no cafe on the island outside peak season.
