Korte feiten: Ooit het hart van een veeboerderij van 4.000 acres, biedt dit open terrein nu 21 kilometer aan wandelpaden over 800 acres. Het historische veekamp staat er nog steeds, met originele stenen muren en kralen die dateren uit de jaren 1860.
Hoogtepunten: Kijk goed naar het oude veekamp en je ziet handgelegde zandstenen muren die werden gebouwd door Chinese arbeiders die in de jaren 1890 op de ranch werkten. De seizoensbeek die deze kloof uitsleette, creëerde ook een zeldzame kustsaliehabitat waar cactuswinterkoningen en Coopers havikken nog steeds nestelen.

- Bring a sun hat and plenty of water, the canyon offers almost no shade on the upper ridges.
- The Cattle Camp Access Trail leads straight to the historic stone corrals, the most photogenic spot in the preserve.
- Skip the East Fork Trail if you're short on time, it's the longest and least varied path.
- Arrive before 8 AM on weekends to snag one of the 18 parking spots at the main trailhead.
