Korte feiten: De 46 meter hoge minaret was zo indrukwekkend voor Dzjengis Khan dat hij deze spaarde van verwoesting. Het complex van drie gebouwen bepaalt al meer dan 800 jaar het stadsbeeld van Buchara.
Hoogtepunten: Vanaf de top van de minaret was de stem van de muezzin tot 10 kilometer ver te horen in de woestijnstilte. Het baksteenpatroon van de toren toont 14 verschillende geometrische versieringen, die elk vanuit een andere richting zichtbaar worden.

- It is worth returning before sunset, when the brick facade of the minaret turns orange.
- Women cannot enter the Mir-i-Arab Madrasa, but the view of the inner courtyard is beautiful even from the entrance.
- Before 8 AM there is almost no one in the square, so you do not have to wait for tourists to clear out of your photos.
- A note for visitors wearing sandals: the stones can be hot during the midday hours in summer.
