Access is completely free, there are no ticket booths, gates, or parking fees, and you can leave your car freely on highway P-9. Stop first at a supermarket for water and snacks, because nothing is sold at the summit, and that way you avoid expensive restaurants.

Fatos rápidos: A excursão abarca uma diferenza vertical de cerca de 800 metros, e o trilho passa por três cinturões vegetacionais distintos até o cume a 1050 metros. Em dia claro d´aquí se veen a Lagua Toro, a bahía Última Esperanza e até 150 quilómetros de glaciares na lonxanía.
Destaques: Os faios do cume están aquí curvados pelos ventos occidentais até 45 graos, e uma antigua pirámide de pedra geodésica se esconde entre eles no propio cumio. Em meio a um silêncio total, interrompido só pelo aire e o sino dos chocos das ovellas abaixo, a vista abarca toda a cadea de Torres del Paine desde os 1050 metros de altura.
Dicas de quem conhece
- Wear trekking shoes with good grip, because the forested part of the trail is loose and very steep 30 minutes below the summit.
- Ten minutes before the summit, look for a stone platform with a panorama of Laguna Toro, the ideal secluded photo spot.
- Set out by 9 a.m., because on the trail you encounter the fewest people and the light is best for photos.
- Avoid the hike after a rainy night, because the muddy stretches become slippery and make the ascent tricky.
