Fatos rápidos: Nas paredes desta torre ainda são visíveis marcas de balas de canhão holandesas de batalhas navais do século XIX. Três vezes ao dia, a partir daqui, controla-se a abertura e o fechamento dos portões da cidade de Sur, que ligam a cidade velha ao oceano.
Destaques: Na torre ainda funciona o mecanismo original do século XVIII que controla os portões maciços de ferro. Ao anoitecer, quando o sol se põe sobre a baía de Sur, os guardas dão o sinal com uma trombeta e os portões fecham-se solenemente, como há 200 anos.

- Once you climb to the top, you will see the entire old town of Sur and the port, worth spending 5 minutes enjoying the view.
- Photograph the gate opening ceremony from the opposite side of the bay, so the shot is most impressive.
- At noon it is especially hot here, so do not forget a head covering and water.
- If you want to see the gate mechanism up close, politely ask the guards, they usually allow it.
