Fatos rápidos: The monastery walls still preserve 900 fragments of original 19th-century murals, including a rare fresco technique combining oil paint and tempera. Its two main bells weigh 520 kg and 1,200 kg respectively, and are still rung every morning at 6:00 AM.
Destaques: Behind the main altar lies a hidden underground chapel that can only be accessed through a secret door behind the iconostasis. The chapel walls are covered with thousands of mosaic pieces handcrafted by monks who survived World War II, with no two mosaic pieces being the same shape.
