Fatos rápidos: Três absides e uma imensa cúpula central foram esculpidos diretamente no macio tufo rochoso, criando uma igreja que parece mais uma catedral-caverna. Os afrescos aqui abrangem duas eras distintas, com padrões geométricos do período Iconoclasta lado a lado com vívidas representações posteriores de santos.
Destaques: Um colossal afresco do Cristo Pantocrator observa a abside principal, seu olhar intenso seguindo os visitantes através da nave. A cúpula de 10 metros de largura da igreja cria um efeito acústico onde mesmo um sussurro perto do altar é audível desde a entrada.

- Wear closed-toe shoes with grip, as the stone floor is worn smooth and can be slippery near the altar area.
- Bring a small flashlight to see the upper fresco details, especially the ceiling paintings that are shadowed even midday.
- Visit the church first before exploring the cave houses across the street when crowds are thinner around 9 AM.
- The stone bench along the left wall was original seating for worshippers, sit there to appreciate the dome's scale.
