Patuakhali surprised me way more than I expected. The river views at sunset are something else. Food was simple but fresh. Stayed 3 nights, felt like enough.
Honestly found it a bit underwhelming. The town itself is dusty and not much happening. The nearby nature is nice but getting there is a hassle without your own transport.
Came during monsoon season by accident. Big mistake. Roads flooded, everything muddy, boats were running but uncomfortable. Go November to February for sure.
The fresh river fish here is incredible. Had some at a small local stall near the ghat and it was the best meal of my whole trip. Super cheap too.
Avoid the restaurants right on the main road near the bus stand. Walk 3 mins into the side lanes near the river, the local dhabas serve better food for half the price.
